What is the Difference Between Free and Paid Anti-Virus and Spyware Removal Programs?

There are a few differences between free and paid versions of Virus and Spyware removal programs.  Even though both versions will find and remove the same viruses and spyware, the paid version is what I always recommend, if you can afford it.

There are Four Main Differences Between Paid and Free Versions

Actively Monitors your Computer

• Paid:  Real-time, always running in background.  Will prevent viruses and spyware from infecting your computer.
   

• Free:  Only runs when you start and run the program.  Will only remove the virus after you are infected.

Updates to Program

• Paid:  Automatically Updates itself at times that you can set yourself.  You can setup the program to check for updates every few hours, days or weekly.
   

• Free:  Only Updates when you run the update part of the program.

 

Scans

• Paid:  Can be setup to Automatically Scan your computer daily, weekly, or .  You can set the time for the scans to run also.
   

• Free:  You need to run the program and then start the scan yourself.

Support

• Paid:  You will get Support from the company you paid to get the program.
   

• Free:  You will not get any Support.

The main reason I like the paid versions is you can "SET IT AND FORGET IT".  If you want to be proactive in the fight against viruses and spyware, then pay for your Virus or Spyware Removal programs. 

If you can't afford the paid versions then by all means use the free versions.  You can still remove your virus and spyware infections. 

Just remember to update and scan your computer at least once a week!
